I made a few little tweaks to my Ezines a few months ago and they
have finally provided me with a really interesting income stream.
Every time that I used to write and publish my weekly Ezine, I
seriously considered turning it into a monthly plain text version.
This is because by the time that I have put together a four or five
page Ezine full of information in Microsoft Word and then published
it into PDF, I had lost half a day.
Even though I now do it monthly, it still needs a day’s work now
every month to put it together, and sometimes I will be sat there
thinking am I mad? Why not just do a plain text version like so
many marketers do all over the globe.
Then all of a sudden something stopped me in my tracks…..
MONEY
A big lump sum of it that had landed directly into my PayPal
account and here is where it came from:
A while ago I put a note on the front page of my Ezines stating
that people could use the Ezines – for whatever reason they wanted
just as long as they remained intact and all the links were
included. I thought nothing more of it, I hoped people were using
the content, but after a while, it seemed obvious that nobody was
bothering.
Then all of the sudden, I started to get sales from sites that I
hadn’t promoted for over two years. It was like a trickle at first
and then it went up into more regular sales. In particular,
affiliate products that I hadn’t promoted for a long time were
suddenly converting and putting money into my ClickBank Account.
However, the biggest difference I noticed was the amount of people
that were signing up to my mailing list via opt-in pages that I had
forgotten that I had set up that were still on old site builder
WebPages.
I decided to investigate it further and found that the traffic,
which had originated from WebPages, was people who were offering it
as a free PDF when people clicked on their sites.
I was winning because my Ezines were generating traffic from their
sites and the webmasters were over the moon at having something of
great quality to offer to their subscribers. I was ecstatic because
I was generating sales from Ezines I had written in the past.
I mentioned it casually at a seminar and my fellow Internet
marketing friends thought I was nuts and needed detaining under the
mental health act.
One even said to me that I would not get any new subscribers as
they would get all the information free on the Internet.
As one of my valued subscribers, I am sure you will agree that this
is not the case at all. You see even though they will have access
to my monthly Ezines and my old weekly ones, that is all that they
would get. They would not receive a special rate on my new products
when they hit the market. Just like they wouldn’t receive my four
day tips like you are reading now. They wouldn’t have access to the
EzineZone either, so they would be missing out on quite a lot of
information really.
What I am doing is viral marketing, and again I am showing you how
easy the virus of marketing can spread on the World Wide Web.
Think of it like this…..
To get these extra sales all I had to was put a note on the front
page of my Ezine stating that they could pass it around as they
pleased just as long as the links remained the same. The people
that wanted to use it did the rest I had to doing nothing else with
it.
For Viral Marketing it is one of the slower methods taking a couple
of months to kick into action compared with the fortnight target I
have with other products. But it didn’t require much work compared
with releasing lots of new reports and having to write lots of
related articles. There is no mass submission sites just a little
link and as the front page is done in advance I only ever had to
create the link ONCE.
So if you are a writer, offer your products around as much as you
can, as it really does pay off. Make sure it has a decent amount of
links through to your affiliates or direct to your own products,
though. Remember, the more people that get hold of the product the
more traffic and sales will head your way.
It is a fantastic way of bringing traffic back to you and I promise
it will bring you fantastic rewards. I was one of the first online
marketers to offer master resale rights and even though some are
many are years old and have lost their value, they still clutter up
eBay in the information products section.
Some say eBay brings down the value, and yes this is very true, but
if your old eBook sells 100 copies a day worldwide with your links
in it, you are the one winning, not the person that is selling it
and paying a fortune in eBay fees. Yes they will make a small
amount from your product, but they would rather be free of the
hassle and overwhelmed by the results.
